The difficulty with not using MS Project is that it is highly integrated into an organisations IT infrastructure and workflow and trying to look into an alternative solution will still require that it will integrate with Microsoft Office suite and windows platform. Finding a solution that is so well integrated with Windows, a universal accept IT platform, is difficult and software solutions that do address integration can come with additional costs. Also for anybody working on database and data purging and cleaning, MS project provides ideal solutions to address this requirement. However there are alternatives out there so choose wisely before settling down with your choose project management planning tool.
