Anger is not limited or unique in the PM environment so whether you are working on a project or something else, we need to learn to control our anger to the best of our abilities.
What I do, in a situation that makes me angry, really angry, I walk away into a private place where no one can hear me and i scream :) or shout.
The key is not to engage in a discussion or make a discussion when you are emotions are high; and that is in both direction - anger or excessive happiness
I don't know that I'd consider it the worst enemy and appropriately channeled anger can actually be a positive vs. repressing it.
However, allowing one's emotions (of any sort) to hijack one's behavior demonstrates low self-control, self-awareness & overall emotional intelligence.
Mindfulness training is one way to regain control as is soliciting feedback from those around us...

I believe the same as well about channeling anger. The challenge is always how to channel it out positively

At work and in my personal life I try to take a step back when I get angry or emotional. I do not like to react immediately. I step back and ask myself why I feel the way I do. Is it something about me, from my past, a trigger? Why am I reacting so strongly. If it is a valid emotion then what do I need to do to address the issue.
It does not always work, but I try.

I try the same but some times we get dragged to it and we become confronting for no valid reason.

I refuse to argue with crazy people or people who are not making sense. I really just smile and walk away. Or I give them the death stare with no emotion and let them continue to make a fool of themselves.

Hi Kevin,
I consider anger as one of enemy of PMs.
1. When you feel getting angry, trying to simply avoid it won't help. Disarm anger in a healthy way. Tell yourself - "It is not going to serve anything me". This will calm you down for sure.
2. I always observed that most of time we talk about 'Problem' rather than 'Resolution'. Focus on resolution always help in releasing anger.
Regards, Arvind

As a PM you will experience anger, but remember that all eyes are on you on how you respond and conduct yourself. An outburst of anger will always be remembered more than what you did to remedy the situation.
