I need advice:

I understand that Rita Mulcahy's "Risk Managment Tricks of the trade for Project Managers (second edition)" used to be one of the best resources for PMI-RMP certification preparation. Its a 2010 RMC publication. Is it still considered a top resource for PMI-RMP certification preparation?

OR

PMBOK5 + PMI Risk Management Standard are enough for the certification preparation.

You need to use PMBOK 6. I do not know which prep resources have been updated. I used Belinda Fremouw's and really liked it. But I do not think she has updated it.

Hi Dinah
You are probably unaware that PMBOK5 is still applicable for PMI-RMP certification exams that will be held during 2018.

Please correct me if i have misunderstood.

Thanks

You are right. I got my certifications confused.

I still loved PMI-RMP Exam Prep by Belinda Fremouw. It was more comprehensive than a previous book I had purchased and the SimpleLearn class I took.

Khalid -

The RMP exam has not changed since I took it in 2011. I prepared using the PMBOK 5 + Risk Management Standard + multiple practice exams from an online provider but someone else might prefer to use a self-study guide like the RMC one.

With the RM standard being updated later on this year (I provided my feedback in February so my guess would be Q3 for publication), I'd assume the exam will be refreshed sometime in 2019...

I followed up with Marvin Nelson, who is the main point of contact for the update to the RM standard, and he indicated that the draft will be released for broader public review in July and that the current timeframe for publication is early Q2 of 2019. As such, I wouldn't expect an exam update till very late in 2019...

I have heard that only PMBOK 5 and the practice standard for RM is required as training materials.

Khalid,

PMBOK 5th and Risk Management Standard are the basis

I have used "PASSING THE RISK MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONAL (PMI-RMP)" there is sample question.
I have preferred that book over Rita's

That's great news Kiron!

I can continue with my PMI-RMP certification preparation, based on the RM standards currently available.
