What is an average delay in Project Management? Based on data/ personal experience can you give me a percentage?

I am having some trouble with meeting deadlines and I was wondering if there is some kind of formula/ equation that I could use in order to set the deadlines more accurately and reduce delays.

All of the projects that I manage involve teams of 5-15 colleagues and in most cases an external supplier.

What are the factors you take into consideration when setting deadlines?
