Endless Iterative Loops

Some companies approach to web application development seems to be a "program it, let us look at it and see if we like it and then decide if we want it or not." With no plan, and anytime I tried to make a plan, they ignored it and wanted to see it all programmed and ready to go so they could decide if they liked it.

I had a job interview once where I was asked what I didn't like and I brought that up. His response was that it was his experience that that is how it was always done.
Well, it's been my experience that it takes twice as long or longer to do it that way when no one wants to sit down and think about what they want and try to make a plan. Changes can be made, but we should have a direction to go in first. I get on those projects, everyone shouts ideas, then they want to see all those ideas in action and it takes it all over the place and has become what I call the endless iterative loop. Working on the same stuff over and over again because people refuse to try to figure out what they want.
