We all feel proud to be among the affluent clientele elite community of project managers but are you doing project management for living as any other job or you consider it prestige for self actualization?

If your situation improved and you get other better option will you switch over
or you still have a passion for practicing the profession wherever you have a chance?

I fell into project management as part of career growth when I was asked to lead my former company's PMO. They supported my getting my PMP and since my departure from there, I am now in a full time PM role. I liked the management aspect of running a PMO, how every day was different. But as a straight-up PM, I find the repetition a bit frustrating sometimes. I do like the work but I am not sure I love it. It is something I am really good at but if presented with other interesting opportunities not in the project management realm (or in more of a consulting role, like helping an organization build a PMO or transition from Waterfall to Agile), I think I would purse them if for no other reason than to try something different and see what else is out there. I like to constantly challenge myself and explore.
You are so courageous...this is awesome!

I used to work in technical capacity where I fell into Project Management practices of running technical projects. From there I transitioned into finance. I still use the PM practices to almost all work that I do. I am also teaching PM courses that can be utilized in several different industries, besides IT, Tech and Construction.

Coming from a PMO background, i enjoy activities relating to overall project management because part if it deals with continuous learning. you practically learn something new everyday or at least be reminded of an important learning experience.

Being a part of the PM field helped me grow as a person - personally and professionally. You deal with different challenges on a daily basis ( project itself, resources, clients, vendors, customers, management) and these challenges makes you grow mentally, learn new skills, reinforce healthy character traits and develop new perspective in life.

PM world lets you see the imperfections of life itself - that no matter how you plan your project or your life, something will surely come up to change that plan. Therefore, you always need to have a back up plan on how to deal the surprises that will show up anytime.

i like a lot managing projects to launch new products/services. Much more than managing product, service or system.
Better only professional football player :)
