Some projects in certain countries pay a crazy amount for expat project managers. Would you leave family and friends to work overseas on a 2-year project if it meant earning twice as much?

A professional should never be closed to this. I've search for this more than once.

Not all is money. Life experience could be also of great value if you can go with your closed relatives. My wife had such experience when she was a young with his father and this could be a valuable life asset. Projects are temporary, so nothing is indeed droped.

Yes because in this part of the world where the use of technology is very low for one to gain experience in his/ her profession. Hence going abroad would enable me again that expertise and knowledge not only the monetary gain. Surely I will to broaden my scope.

Today? No my son is to young but before he was born - definitely and once he is older? For the right opportunity, yes. I want him to see his mommy taking risks and having an interesting career!

I did consider taking a job in the Middle East for 3x my salary at the time. I did not and some years later I took a leap of faith and migrated to Australia instead.
