Well Kevin, the hardest thing is to keep them awake, because they get bored so easily with such "trivial" matters. Motivation is all about knowing what the other person wants. Give them that, and you can slip in what you want them to understand. Maybe a session mapping how commercial interests map to their technical domain or job function.

I've found that to be the best way to engage technical people. Unless they understand the correlations between their technical activities and commercial interests they simply won't care.

I meant technical people and engaging them with profitability
usually, technical people do not like to be engaged in business or commercial issues. For real involvement, people need to see the value. Communicate clearly, effectively, and with consistency Saving Changes...

In my opinion we have to excite them about the commercial aspects , give them the opportunity to see through, and show them how much value they can bring to the business.

I think it is about showing them successes. Say you are trying to release a product that will be marketed nationwide to all XYZ industries. The technical people are focused on the pieces. Show them what the outcome will be. Show them how using this product will allow Susie Q to feed 10 times the number of children. Show them the children's face. Something like that. One thing my boss used to joke about was hiding an Easter Egg in our code that will pop up a picture of the development team. It is not about related the team to the commerce side of it. You need to relate to the human side of commerce.
