Project Management Community Leader

I have recently successfully applied for a new role within my company (wider team do not yet know). This part of the organisation is new as is the role; as Project Management Community Leader I have in a sense a blank canvas!

The PM community is based across Europe and there are no clear requirements for what's expected...

So my question is what would you most value from a PM community supporting you in your role?

I'd value communication about projects happening across the company, and lessons learned. As a PM in a large company I'd like a list of every project happening, along with a high-level description of each project's goals. I'd use the list to find projects that interest me, then I'd talk to the project's PM to learn more about it. Perhaps I'd be able to do some work on it, especially if it features the chance to learn a new technology or skill that interests me.

Depends on my role.

My most recent interactions with PM CoP's was leveraging them to:

1. Identify "pain points" for continuous improvement consideration
2. Solicit their input into upcoming standards and method changes
3. Engage them actively in developing specific changes

As a PM, I'd echo Eric's feedback about learning how things are done in other areas, what works well and what could be improved...
