I agree with my colleagues here, smaller teams are always better. Anyway most of the time I don't have any control on the team size, since it depends on the project complexity.
Anish, actually I feel the opposite the bigger the team the bigger I feel to manage them, I have the spirit of a General Manager or a Director / CEO :-)

I would say 6, if I had to choose. It's small, under 10 (a common per-requisite for effective teams), and unlike with odd numbers, you can have teams divisible by 2.

Sante, thanks for your feedback but I am wondering how to execute many activities with 6 number only, I never had a team less than 20, I use to have many excel sheet and matrix for their many required licenses and expired date starting from articulate Aerial lift, fall protections, etc

Riyadh, the 6 is what I suggest, since you asked for an "ideal" number. That doesn't mean in every instance it is ideal. Naturally there are situations that require larger teams like yours :-)

Sante, yes thanks for your suggestion, and like you said it depends on the project size if you have a civil work to do pouring foundations / pads to mount equipment on it then yes we need more people then if you have structures to assemble where the equipment will install on that.
