In the Phase Gate system, as per PMBOK there is a gate after CLOSE PROJECT phase. Any views on it!

Karthik -

A closure phase gate is used to formally close out the project. Unlike preceding gates which would be the go/no-go for further funding of the project, this gate basically confirms that there is agreement from all key stakeholders that the project should end.

In our stage gate process we have it. Remember that stage gate is a process that you can define as you like. We have a project close gate where we formaly close the project. That is required to support the project manager mainly. Depending on your solution life cycle you can define what we name "hypercare" which is mainly to support the business analyst and is intended to review if the product/service/result is delivering the expected benefit in the short term (not more than 3 month in our case). That is the gate we have after project closure gate.
