Only basically familiar with MS Project 2016 I wonder whether it can be used to calculate EVM. Should I attend a seminar?

Thank you in advance.

First of all let me say I am not a MS Project advocated neither a MS Project fan. With that said, some of the issues commented here about possible malfunction on MS Project when using EVM are not malfunction they are behavior that you have to expect because the EVM itself. I do not want to open an MS Project debate here. Just my recommendation is taking a look to EVM and taking a look to MS Project implementation of EVM to understand how to use it with MS Project. Is the same than in other MS Project topics. For example, when MS Project calculate end date from duration.

You certainly can use it for EVM. I'd suggest checking out some video tutorials online, either via youtube or MPUG.

Have fun!
