It isn't easy!! any place you work you will find some opportunities and threats. It's inevitable. But as our colleges said as interview see and think yourself if you are comfortable or not.

You must manage conflict and risks and use in-personnel skills how to manage with your boss.

In addition, if you have friends at the company, ask around about your boss. Although, he or she may not work under him/her, they could have some pertinent input.

keep in active touch with your network, if one of your former senior colleagues has needs and you enjoyed that relationship they could reach out to you.

I run a "happy hour" for my old company every 3 months. People get together, have a drink or 3, catch up. Many people end up getting connected, with & for people they enjoyed working with. In the end there is no one definition of "good boss", only "good chemistry with you"

The only thing that will help you on that matter is to understand that there are not "good" ot "bad" boss. There are the bossess that best fit to organizational culture. Then, is up to you to continue working in that organization. Is not a matter of the boss, is a metter of organizational culture.

That's really tough. But again it depends on the environment and the culture. I agree with Sergio here, there are no 'good' or 'bad' boss. If you don't see something working, you need to drive the change, be the change.

As someone who's worked for great bosses and terrible bosses (including the 11th worst in America as judged by the "Best Boss/Worst Boss" contest), when you are joining a company you typically don't know until you have worked with the boss. The best tactic I've found is to learn about the company culture. Bad culture fosters bad bosses. It's no guarantee, though. I've worked for bad bosses in good companies and good bosses in bad companies.

If you are looking to transfer within a company, then you have many options. Ask your peers, observe them in meetings, read their communications.

May be easy to find but very difficult to get that person as your boss. Moreover no boss is bad or good in all aspects and it's basically our comfort-level with him/her to do our work & achieve our goals.

You don’t really find a good boss, good and tough people come your way during your career so you just need to learn how to work with people and adapt to the different situations.

I thought it's mainly about building trust. Many boss want to have you in their team and worry about your skills, capability or talent could deteriorate his/her position or move ahead to their provision job.
