I am working in an organization that is really working to grow the PMO and could use a starting set of document templates. What is in your starting "toolbox" ?

The Charter, the Project Management Plan (which includes all of the other plans) and the Project Closure document. This is what we started with.

I suggest focusing first on these templates:
Project Charter
Communications Plan
Risk Register

Projects can doom themselves to failure from the outset due to a poorly defined Project Charter, and a poorly planned communications strategy can ruin a project after it begins. Perhaps the biggest source of problems I've seen in projects is failure to properly identify risks; this often happens when a project doesn't have a Business Analyst or Risk Manager assigned to manage its risks.

Documents suggested are excellent.

I would make sure to have some example of content within the template. Too often a see people not understanding what should be put in the various section of the templates.

That's an excellent point, Vincent.
Antonio: It would be ideal to have an entirely completed real project to serve as an reference example to show people how to fill out each template.
