It is also called KT method, used for problem analysis model and can we tailor it to project management.

When solving problems usually we look for the answer to the following four questions:
1.What happened?
2.Why did it happen?
3.How should we act?
4.What will be the (future) result?

Riyadh -

I've neither heard of it nor used it so far. I've used other common methods like Ishikawa, 5 Whys. Please share your experience on the KT method.

Kepner-Tregoe is a problem solving and decision making tool for handling tough decisions and managing complex situations. It will be nice to have some examples on the use of this method.

I thought it was just easy to upload the template for you to use, but looks like I have to submit it for review to get approval or denial.

Tamer, it is Problem Solving and Decision Making (PSDM).
There are four basic steps when using the Kepner Tregoe decision matrix:

Situation appraisal - is used to clarify the situation, outline concerns and choose a direction

Problem analysis - here the problem is defined and it's root cause determined

Decision analysis - alternatives are identified and a risk analysis done for each

Potential problem analysis - the best of the alternatives is further scrutinized against potential problems and negative consequences and actions are proposed to minimize the risk.

Following the step-by-step approach of Kepner Tregoe decision making allows for the use of critical thinking skills in considering many possible factors that may be vital in making the decision.
