As we saw what companies did based on users' facebook information in american election I suggest a discussion of creating new system to get information from pmi members and in parallel link project owners to this database to increase the opportunity of having better position that fits every members based on their skills and capabilities

interesting idea, but PMI has guarded member databases very carefully. Chapters have access to demographic info for their members, but again, privacy considerations would need to be addressed.

you are right. Members should have the right to chose which information can be viewed by public. they can be informed that their own data will be used for better choosing project members.

I would definitely agree with Kiron. Privacy could be a big obstacle considering what was happening lately.

What sort of information would you suggest collecting? Everything relevant to our skills and capabilities is already in our resumes, which most of us make public.

It can be divided in two categories:
1-personal skills and capability
2-management, technical skills and capability that gain from education and experiences
having information of the members is the first step the second step will be the one which creating a system of analyzing this information and matching the best choices for projects.
of course the needs of project owners and the projects should be considered too.

There would be a lot of money in it for them to give commercial access to such a database, but would end up blurring the lines between integrity and profit.

You are right. But its better to think of a system that all parts can win.
I mean a better opportunity for members, superb members to work for project owner, more successful projects and of course more money for the system owner.

This sounds like LinkedIn. I'm not sure how much data PMI actually has. Anyway, this is what LinkedIn is for, or sites like Indeed and ZipRecruiter. Correct? And with Microsoft acquiring LinkedIn (who had acquired Lynda) and GItHub, they have plenty of data to mine. Maybe soon they will own PMI and ProjectManagement.com :)

Yeah. You are right. I believe that LinkedIn is the most successful of all. But It is time consuming to search, apply and finally find an opportunity that you are not 100% sure is the right one. If the process of investigating become fully automatized, accurate and more categorized then the process of finding and choosing will be faster.
for example based on Facebook data they can know you better than yourself based on the things you like. We didn't see any reports that said, based on X data these persons are mostly or exactly qualified for Z project as a project manager, executive manager, ...

LinkedIn (and others) are not just pull, they are push too. They use the information collected from you (or inputted) and your resume to suggest opportunities. They also make your data searchable for recruiters to find potential candidates based on the needs of the position and the skills and experience from the candidate(s)..
