The whole chicken and egg thing is being turned on its head with the emerging technologies. Traditionally we always believed that strategy dictates the tech we use and need i.e what do we need to do to increase revenue and then we would try to find the tech to do so. Technology should be a means to an end and not the end unto itself. Advances in technology will increase the volume of possible choices (making the job of saying "No" more complex) as well as introduce options which were previously not feasible. All can be explained with a simple thing that is the key to take into account to deal with any type of "new wave" today and in the future: systemic theory. Organizations are open and adaptable systems. Open because interact with environmental stimulu and adaptable because their transformed when environmental changes occurs. It is not new. It started from 1976. Key drivers are thing like "zero latency" concept (relating to the time elpased an envirormental request must be fullfilled by the organization) which is not new and today could be related to a new "buzzword": Digital Transformation.
