What did you learn about people as a project manager?

I learnt that in general, people .............because .........................................

For example, I learnt that in general, people hate change because it threatens their stability.

I am curious to know what you learnt :)

Well!!!! I learn the communication and negotiation, because, you should know how to manage and control the stakeholder and any people in a proper a way as per project management procedures!!!!

True Tamer, and I guess it is a bit hard to get communication right in your context. You have to try different ways in order to get approval :)

1. Not everyone will think like you, but different doesn't mean wrong

2. Just because someone is smiling on the outside, doesn't mean they are smiling on the inside

3. Everyone has an off day (even you) so be patient

In general, I find that people want to be in and will better be able to succeed in an environment of leadership, direction, transparency, team-driven, and respect.

I've also learned that it is completely normal for change to creep into a project. It's natural progression. Once a starting point becomes tangible, the next pieces seem clearer, but it is through experienced leadership to help direct that energy.

I agree with you Andrew, leadership is THE cornerstone. but I'm just curious to know how often have you encountered this kind of leadership?

In many instances 'Yes'. It was either they wanted to bring something to the management’s consideration or to get their concern understood.

True Tamer, and I guess it is a bit hard to get communication right in your context. You have to try different ways in order to get approval :)

In general I could say that people can make the difference. I know it's obvious, but the human factor is vital to reach results.

I tend to understand (and to monitor the situation accordingly) since day 0 who are the lazy people and the liars. 'They need to be properly managed
