I used actual paper kanban's once at exec sponsor insistence. Worst move ever, everybody got stressed when he'd stop by & read it. Despite him saying "don't worry". The guy was a heavy-handed exec. Electronic, aka Trello type, are so much better. Execs can look at them without the troops stressing.
Vivek, the traditional one has it's drawback, but I kinda like the low-tech feel of them. An issue can be the handwriting, or in my case some alien language, as the writing is that messy. It helps to have a volunteer with very nice handwriting to replace the mumbo jumbo with legible notes. Saving Changes...
Yes, I have used Kanban Boards personally and professionally. I found them very useful. My favourite tools are Trello and JIRA.
