I am new to Project Management and will soon be taking the CAPM exam. I'd like to chat with someone who might have started out the same way. I'm interested in developing a promotion plan and could use some assistance. Thanks in advance! Saving Changes...

I'm new to project management and earned my CAPM 6 months after I earned my Masters in Project Management.
Not sure what you mean by a promotion plan?
Good luck on the exam!

Hi there, Ed,
Thank you for taking the time to respond.
Given my current position, and salary, I need to develop a plan so that I know that when the exam is passed, I'll get the appropriate salary increase. I do not have an education in PM, my background is Business Management. Our university doesn't have many individuals (if any) certified in Project Management, I'd like to be able to outline (for my employer) exactly what I expect as I go through this process.
There are many who have taken the CAPM journey Jeslyn. I'm sure some will chime in here soon. Good luck :-)

Hi Jeslyn,
First go to PMI website and read CAPM tips carefully, which are reading of handbook ,exam outline and PMBOK with focusing the ITTO's and definitions. Then, practice a lot of questions from PMSTUDY and PMPRECAST. After that, book your exam and relax!!!
Good luck

Hi Tamer,
Thank you for taking the time to respond. I have all of the CAPM requirements and suggesstions outlined. I've got a good game plan as far as studying is concerned. Just looking for more information on documenting a formal plan for obtaining my certification, and outlining (for my employer) what is expected compensation wise.
Thanks again for the tips & encouragement!

Since your background is business management, project management is a great skill to have. Have you downloaded the Business Analyst practice guide from PMI? Also, check out the PMI salary report. It will give you an idea of what salary to "expect" after you earn your CAPM.

Hey Jeslyn,
As I have told you, these tips are enough, because, as per exam outline, CAPM will examine you the ITTO's of PMBOK not like PMP, which examines yo the cases and scenarios. And he should practice questions in PMSTUDY. It's the best website to pass exam if you practice all questions in more one time and learn your mistakes to fill your gap of knowledge and be strong before exam.
