Do you think this might decrease the value of the certification?

I had to take an at-home proctored exam. I was required to have a camera connected to my computer and was required to show my work space to prove I did not have any books or notes laying around. My computer was also monitored so they could see if I tried to open website online to cheat.

I've taken my CAPM and PMP at centers. During my PMP exam, there were two people who spent 2 hours typing essays on the old style keyboards that are VERY loud. They were typing extremely fast and with a lot of finger pressure. It was extremely distracting and almost irritating. I had a hard time focusing and could still hear them with the headphones that were provided by the center. Had I known that was going to an issue (because it wasn't during my CAPM exam), I would have brought my own headphones and earplugs to drown out the noise.

I would have loved to take the PMP exam at home.

Karrie, I've had a similar experience. I had to give a slow 360° view with my webcam so the online proctors could validate there was nothing in the room I could use to cheat. I also had to install special software that let the proctors validate which windows I had open on my PC. Yes, I was at home, but I was "proctored" almost as well as if I had gone to an examination site.

It will be interesting to see if this is PMI's intent.
