Do you think this might decrease the value of the certification?

I don't think so!!! The exam will be monitored when you solve the exam as I saw in video in you tube!! But is there other reason to decease this candidate???

Yeah I noticed the same thing. Shows how much or little they feel the exam is worth. All online exams are less credible than inside exam centers, it's just the way it is. Not saying online exams are useless, as they serve a purpose.

Well, this is not something new. The announcement for the In-House proctored CAPM exam has been there for a while now and I know some who did it at home and their feedback was that the exam monitoring was as strict as if you are in person. If you read the rules and regulations of the Inhouse CAPM, you will also get the feel of how strict it is.

As far as I heard, PMI might be working on making this option available for all certifications but nto sure though.

On the other hand, many certification bodies and organizations are working towards online proctored certifications and I might disagree with Sante here because I do not think this will make the exams less credible. In real life, you can always open your book, check the internet and so on but at the end what counts is your experience. Ive done some online exams and had the luxury to open books and websites but I did not because the exams were fully situational and depends on deep understanding and experience and if someone will go through books and website they will run out of time.

That would be interesting if all PMI's certifications migrate online.

valid points made in above posts. In my view allowing CAPM or any other online exams should be encouraged and it improves the reach

This needs to be welcomed.

We had some cases where the exam got cancelled due to bad weather (Normal in Canada & US) and it was the transition phase from 5th to 6th Edition exam.

No, it should not decrease the value of the certification.
