I took a template from the project category that includes duration. I have since made it my own customized template but have now lost the ability to capture the duration of a task. There is no formula in the smartsheet template that I can see.
Can someone please help me create a duration formula from "planned start date" to "planned finish date"? Or tell me how to fix it.

Jennifer,
I am not sure I fully understand your question in terms of the formula you are looking for so more clarity would be great. Moreover, which template are you talking about, can you provide us with a link ?
Cheers,

If excel, could probably do a simple formula of =SUM(cell[end] - cell[start])

It sounds to be just lost formulas in the duration column of an excel template. I do t know the specific template, but if needing to simply calculate duration between dates, i have successfully used the above. Saving Changes...
If I read correctly and you are using Smartsheet, you should be able to use =NETWORKDAYS([Start Date],[End Date]) where the [ ] indicates cell references to your start and finish dates. Saving Changes...
