Project Manager Assessment

I am looking for a project management assessment to gauge a group of PM's on their core competencies. The intent is to identify areas in need of coaching/mentoring to foster a stronger and more formal PM base. Is there a baseline assessment I could build upon? I do not want to reinvent the wheel.

I would also be interested in other tools that may fit the needs.

Thanks

Jeremy -

have you look at PMI's PM Competency Development Framework (https://www.pmi.org/pmbok-guide-standards/...t-3rd-edition)?

Thanks Kiron. Yes, I am familiar with CDF. I am really looking more for a baseline assessment to identify those compentencies that need focus. (A listing of questions to assess those core competencies.)

There are many paid assessment tools out there. A couple of years back, I'd used CEB's (now Gartner) assessment for PMs.

Do you have budget for a paid service or are you looking for freely available ones? The benefit with the paid ones is that they are independently administered which removes bias and they will usually have enough data to enable benchmarking against similar companies.

Do you know if the assessment you are referring to is still available with Gartner and what it's called?

I recently went over the competency framework again. It's worthwhile.

The best approach is to develop an assessment specific to your organizations that is based on the position description

Here's a link to the Gartner one which might just be a rebranded version of the old CEB one: https://www.gartner.com/en/documents/39474...-effectiveness-

What I did from years is aligned with @Kevin above. Just to comment with are in the process to use NPS (net promoter score) to get feedback for our customers and this help us to understand what things we have to do better as program/project management levels. Is not about individuals, is about to create the environment where individuals can behave according to we need to achieve our objectives. Obviously taken into account that individuals have the base knowledge to put in practice our strategy related to program/project management.
