Looking for recommendations on the best project management software to use for the development of engineered component parts with an average project life of 4 months?

I use Microsoft Project and Excel - over the years several templates have been developed and are quite helpful because they are specific to the way the company works.

I use MS packages as well. I'm used to Project and Excel, and I'm starting to get a better understanding of some other softwares. I think that it doesn't matter how short is your project, is more a question of how detailed it is. Good luck!

Depends on the needs and capabilities of the organization. Best is arbitrary and subjective. Certainly, MS Project and Excel are popular options, but there are others. Then, of course, on-premise or cloud? Integration points? Lots of possibilities and easier to map to a product with defined needs.

Good luck.

MS Project would certainly do the trick. If you are looking for more of an Agile approach, I especially like using JIRA.

Use MS Project & Excel as well. Jira for agile project management. Also I have noticed Google Smartsheets and Basecamp being increasingly used in project management.

MS Project is always the best!
As another idea, you can take a look at ITM Platform, which is great to manage waterfall and agile projects, as well a programs and project portfolio. Not sure about the engineered components, though
