Some business clearly can keep up, since some are responsible for the high rate of advancing technology or innovation (ie. Amazon). Most lag behind however.

It is not about to meassure the advance. Is about the organizations must not be in reactive mode and run behind the new waves. By the way, technology is everything, for example a pencil. That is critical to understand when you define a new business inside the organization.

Depends on the industry and the competitive pressures to stay current with the technology advances. There are some advances which are likely to touch all industries such as machine learning, but others such as 3D printing, drones or even Blockchain might not impact a given vertical.

The best response is to have an agile leadership team which can adjust strategy to take advantage of appropriate changes, and a change resilient workforce which is used to absorbing new things.

I agree with Kiron that it depends on the industry and the pressures on that industry. It is also digging beneath the hype and vaporware to what truly does drive value for your business at a strategic level. Technology is evolving at a tremendous pace for sure. As AI and other trends erode the business and jobs of the past as Anish pointed out we need dynamic thinkers who can grow with the changing technological landscape.

No, I don't believe technology is advancing too fast for individuals and companies to keep pace - assuming they remain extremely open to change and flexible in their thinking.
