Kavita, I am a board member of NWA PMI chapter. Joining PMI chapter is a good avenue for networking. Most of the chapters conduct CAPM, PMP and PMI-ACP certification courses with discounted prices. They also have study groups, so that members can have discussions for their exam preparation. It is a great opportunity to explore, don't miss it.
Thanks Pench for replying, I think i can make good use of study group and courses.

Kavita -

For those who are getting started in the PM profession, a Chapter can provide a number of benefits including:

- networking with those more senior than you (to help you locate a mentor) and those at your level
- professional development through dinner presentations, symposiums and subsidized formal courses
- the chance to demonstrate your PM skills in a volunteer capacity

Mature, continuous improving chapters will also provide benefit to more senior practitioners, but not all do.

Kiron
Thank you so much Kiron for replying, can you please advice me how would i approach some one for mentoring me?

Very beneficial for networking and learning events

Extremely valuable for networking and getting fresh perspective from outside your company and industry. Some of the most value comes from the dinner discussions with fellow PMs who have fought the battles you will be fighting and you can learn from their scars and bruises. Just joining gives you little. Being engaged is critical to getting the value.

I concur with Eric and Andrew on this. I was a member in the past but never had time to attend meetings so eventually I gave up. I think the benefit will depend upon your engagement level.

Very well said Kiron. My experience and feedback would be the exact same. I find it very beneficial especially for new PMs.
