What are some of the best ways to prevent an activity network crash?

Liam -

Are you referring to ways to avoid having to crash a schedule by adding more staff to critical path activities?

If so, I'd suggest starting the project sooner or reducing scope or altering the proposed approach.

To summarize:

1. Using historical data - internal/external- as a baseline
2. Understanding the tasks and dependencies and prioritizing the tasks
3. Being Stingy and cutting corners without affecting the big-picture - this means, unnecessary or unwanted tasks should not be encouraged.
