How to grow in career as Project Manager?

I'm a Sr. System Engineer (DBA - MSSQL), planning to do my PMP certification.

I want to know how PMP certification will facilitate this growth? What steps I have take achieve my goal?

I agree with Andrew on this.
May be you could try shadowing a project manager in your organization that you know and just get a feel of various activities and be able to perform some of those roles, working side by side with that project manager.

Reading PMP tips in PMI websites, read PMBOK not less two times and solve a lot questions from websites.

Learn other things, not just the PMBOK Guide. The PMBOK is a project management standard. Learn a methodology such as PRINCE2. That will help provide you with a broader understanding. Then learn about Agile. Finally, learn how all of these 3 can work together. That's probably best done on real projects however.
