Influence score on this site, what does it mean to you?

Hi, mostly from curiosity, I was wondering what does the influence score here on this site mean personally for you? Are you trying to reach the top because of being competitive, do you have other reasons or do you even care? Do you follow people with high score? Saving Changes...
I just checked it... I fully forgot that we have the number in our profile.
For me doesn't mean anything, I've never shared the number with my friends/peers or in other social networks.
Also, I'm worried that this number and the community TOP contributors makes that some comments, questions, answers have very poor quality (as other already mentioned)
For those that show interest and love it, how do you use it? Do you share it with your employer? Or in other social media?

Ah Mayte, you hit the nail on the head. There is no "correction" in the algorithm for quality or lack thereof.

That is the worst part of that gamification score, quality of contribution.
I also question the secondary score for practice Areas, how is it built?
when I click on the Influence number, in the detail I have the same practice twice!
As a relatively new user to the community site, Influence score (along with badges) is a fun way to help me start engaging all the facets the site has to offer. It’s encouraged me to connect with people, write responses/reviews, participate in topics, and ask questions. In the long run, I expect that the score will be a motivation to keep me active. Thank you all for your contributions.
Hi Jeremy, I thought the same, but then the algorithm inconsistencies drove me crazy ;-) Saving Changes...
