For instance, I have seen that there are some option like teammood.com, but they bear cost. Are there any other creative options for that purpose?

Its all about keeping lines of communication open - formal & informal.

Structured environments are all part and parcel of Projects, but I find you get the most benefit by just touching base, going for a coffee, informal calls or drop by's at peoples desk. The more interested you seem in them, the more genuine input and feelings of frustration (or delight) they will feel in sharing with you.

You nail it Rami. I use my ears to listen to the team members so I can trigger my brain and experience.

In my experience open communication is the best way, and I concur with Yvonne on this.

Eduard -

I use an eight question survey in SurveyMonkey every two sprints for the teams I'm coaching. With a free account, I can send it to my full team but can't export the results so I copy & paste them into Excel.

Like Rami say listening to the team member should give you a good portrait.
A survey is an interesting option if you make it blind.
Otherwise, a simple paper survey will do.

Thank you all for your answers. I missed to mention in the original question that the intended assessment should be quantifiable. Some good tips, thanks again!

Rami is spot on, though, Kiron's mention of a survey is great.
