I have both, included PMP. Is you ask me, the future is in business analysis then I think people have to take a closer look to PMI-PBA. I am saying that because I was part of the "genesis" of business analysis and agile that started before the PMI was interested on both. But to be honest, in my personal case, each time I have to evaluate the effort to take a new certification I made my own estimation about future market demands.

Both of these are PMI designations with better recognized competing credentials (e.g. CBAP and CSM/PSM) out there. A lot comes down to what you are interested in doing near-mid term and what the roles you'd like to target are advertised as requiring...

Thanks Kiron. It was suggested that I stay within one organization since I now have an association. The recommendation was due to the ease of managing PDU's, etc. with just one location. Don't want to do that if the others are much more recognized.

Rich, Congratulations for your PMP. since you completed PMP, I recommend to go with PMI-ACP. Now a days, most of the organizations are executing the projects in Agile, it would be a good idea to go for PMI-ACP. With both PMP and ACP you will be a great project manager. If you want to go for another certification after ACP, then plan for PBA.

Thanks Pench. My thought was that Agile limits me to just IT type project management positions. Although that is my background, I don't think my skill set limits me to that.

I have both and I would recommend ACP first. There is overlap in preparation and exam for these two and starting with ACP would make it easier for PBA. Besides I think ACP would be a great addition to project management skills. PBA is about business analysis, a bit of different discipline. Then it depends on how would you like to steer your career.

Thanks Lenka. I think both would be beneficial. I did purchase some materials for the ACP, so I'll likely head that way first.

BTW - I see you have a lot of great contributions to the site.

Agile is the future and i more closely aligned with project management, so I would say the PMI-ACP. I don't see the point of the PMI-PBA unless you will play a business analyst role at some stage.

I agree with Lenka and Kiron. I personally did the ACP and currently planningto pursue the PBA & CBAP both but not at the same time.

If you are to chose one for now only then I would say Business Analysis might be better for you if you are a developer. Just my 2 cents.
