CAPM is a certfication for those who are new to project management, while PMP is for the more experienced. The later is more regarded by the market, and therefore more job positions ask for it. The prerequisites for each certification are pretty clear in the link Pench provided.
Check which one your experience and education more closely match, and apply for it. Saving Changes...

Ask yourself how many projects you've been a part of. How complex were they, and how many different phases of the project were you involved in? Were you leading the effort, or were you a member of the team? The answers to those questions will help you decide which certification to pursue.
As for the PgMP, that is for Program Management. A Program is significantly different from a Project., and while there is an overlap the PgMP wouldn't necessarily be comparable to the CAPM. Saving Changes...
