Saving water - Hot water provision in Hotel industry

Recently had gone for weekend holiday where in we had to release almost 2 buckets of water .This is the situation where they would be using solar water heater for getting the hot water .Just wanted to know how is this situation tackled to avoid minimum or less wastage of water
