Jorge I would say character (and by association: integrity, honesty, emotional intelligence) are crucial to effective leadership.

What Sante said. A leader with a bad character is not a leader and they manage from a place of power and not authority.

If for character you are referring to the mental and moral qualities a human being has then it is important for anything.

I would say that your character defines your leadership style and how you will be seen by the people who you are a leader for.
