Hi PM Community -
I would like to know as a Project manager or project management practitioner what keeps you motivated on tough days.

My motivation is driven by the vision of the achieved goal. There are always tough days, but it is important to remind yourself why are you doing this, what you want to achieve and regain your energy by seeing the difference you are making. It does not have to be big, but for instance when someone tells you that they learned something new on your project, or that they are happy to be part of your team, then it is very motivating.

Motivation comes from within, inspiration can be drawn from without. If what drives you is being satisfied in spite of the ebbs and flows of a given day, then motivation won't suffer.

It also helps to review the Serenity Prayer regularly!

Motivation is linked to the old glass half full, half empty scenario. Motivation is an emotional state, so it stands to reason that how you view life and work, especially the current project, will effect your level of motivation.

Though I may get little dissatisfied at times in my workplace, my motivation-levels don't go down as I am satisfied with my true purpose and also if I am able to help my teams significantly, in achieving the project goals and their career & personal goals.

If my team, my customer is satisfied, trusts me (us), this gives me a feeling of achievement, reducing uncertainty for others and make things happen.

Motivation comes from self-belief and disciplined approach, some good past days and inspirational quotes do help but it is the inner instinct to achieve more will stand out. Just focus on your goals, try the harder miles, the well-disciplined approach will keep you motivated. Try to imagine yourself in the future, when you have achieved what you are striving for, foresee the success, it might also help :-)
