As a PMP, you accumulate a lot of projects over time. Nobody wants to read your whole life story when hiring, so how do you manage the highlights when you tell your story in a resume?

I have a Project Management Summary that showcases some of my major skills.

I just started using the blue grey resume template in Word. This allows me to move my contact info and certifications out of the body of the resume and highlight them on the left side in a blue/grey bar. Then the right side has summaries followed by a few years of companies/projects.

I also created a video which I put on my LinkedIn. And I created interview "leave behinds", packets with my resume, business card and the presentation used in the video.

I have been regularly refining my resume over the past year or two. This last version has garnered positive feedback from my friends and co-workers.

Great ideas. Just like Anton & Rami mentioned, having a separate document does help.

Add all the relevant testimonials part of the document

Thanks for the GREAT inputs! I really like the idea of having a separate document to keep the resume portion succinct and then supporting information.

1. Know your audience as best you can - do they want long or short resume/CV. Ask your current companie's HR or hiring managers what they prefer, Ask any friends, family who have hired people what they prefer. Check with recruiters.

2. Tailor your resume/CV to the job at hand. Keep it oriented around the role specs. Don't flood your resume with all your work, they won't read it all. Use a tool like jobscan.co.

3. Keep a couple of general resumes/CVs at hand - one that's short, with highlights only and another that's longer with more detail. And/or keep a separate project show case document as per Kristoffer.

The idea about the project showcase is a good one! Thank you.
