Hello Amany: My industry is healthcare. With that said, I believe top 3 ethical issues would be associated with inpatient safety and excellence in care, complexities related to the electronic health record and electronic privacy or security.

Hello Lori, thank you for this. In 2018, and until end of Jan 2019, Australians have the option to opt-out of "My Health Record (MHR)" system - a system that provides both individuals and health care professionals access to information on one's medications, allergies, immunisation records, hospital and GP care (high level summary), investigation reports and advance care plans. One of the major concerns for those who opt-out is security and privacy as health data is prized by hackers increasing the risk of identity theft (reference https://theconversation.com/my-health-reco...ting-out-99302)

Great question, Amany!
While the world has made strong strides and progress in ethics, several issues still remain.
To me here are a few:
1. Ethical issues related to Artificial Intelligence and Robotics
2. Corruption and nepotism amoing politicians all over the world
3. Global Human Rights issues

Thank you Karthik.
"1. Ethical issues related to Artificial Intelligence and Robotics"
- This will definitely be an ongoing priority for ethics as systems collect more data and apply machine learnings. Privacy, security and ethical decisions making!
"2. Corruption and nepotism among politicians all over the world"
- Unfortunately, this is a global problem that requires strong ethical leadership, lots of courage and ability to speak-up.
"3. Global Human Rights issues"
- Agree - and would add to that the sustainability of our planet.

We have few good tools to guide our ethical inquiry. Many people confuse holding a published code of ethics with the ability to reason ethically about the morality (the good and bad) of the situation.

As our organizations become more diverse, we need tools that can help us understand that the other's person's behavior might be acceptable in some situations.

Related to tools, too, is the idea that most people (in the model described by UNESCO's Riel Miller) are "futures illiterate." Although our society is changing and will continue to change, most people don't have the tools to anticipate the range of possible outcomes of future scenarios.

Thanks a lot Greg for your contribution. I look at the number of Royal Commissions in Australia in 2018 and now in 2019, and I wonder why we can't get it right in the first place!

I'm not sure there are any new ones for 2019 but the criticality of specific ones (e.g. sustainability, privacy) might increase.

Thanks for this topic, dear Amany.
Ethics is a topic relevant at any time, and project managers, as practitioners and professionals need to become comfortable in acting ethically.
The rise of the internet of things, the need for professionalism and for the management of projects with remote teams will impact more and more the activity of project managers.

In 2019, be prepared for the top 3 ethical issues of the world to face makers and leaders and project managers to create change.
"Top 3 Ethical Issues" :
How to Face Our Mudra (Waste) ,
How to Face Our Planet (Earth) , and
How to Face Our People (Homosapien and AI).
Project Managers will integrate the quadruple bottom-line as we look to commercial projects in the aero & quantum spaces.
It will become important to incorporate our technologies, knowledge, and processes to ensure the efficient and manageable systems we create, manage, and redefine are balanced and productive.
