Have you used a career coach to further your career? If yes, how did it work for you?

I have. It helps to provide a different perspective on your ideas of how things work; whether it is with a current situation, career aspirations within the current organization, or looking for movement to a new organization, or field.

Additionally, much can be learned with interview and negotiation techniques. Investing in a career coach is just that, an investment - in yourself.

So, to answer your question, it did work. It adds a layer of confidence to your techniques.

Great! And even though it came throgh a recommedation, I still had the opportunity to speak with them and determine it was the right fit.

I am currently working with a fantastic career coach. I kinda thought I knew what I should be doing in terms of how to write my resume, what employers are looking for, what goals were realistic, etc. It was so helpful to have a professional give me real information and objective feedback. She helped me solidify what my ideal career actually is. All of this really boosted my confidence, made me laser focused. Best money I ever spent. Her name is Hallie Crawford. www.halliecrawford.com

Great question, Robert!
As an active participant of PMI's prestigious Leadership Institute Master Class (2012), I was very fortunate to be mentored by an amazing Leadership Coach, Dr. Jennifer Hall.
She added terrific value to my career by pointing me in the right directiion in terms of leveraging my top strengths. She also provided very practical advice on minimizing the ill-effects on my more glaring weaknesses. More info at: https://drjenhall.com/

I have several experiences. Co-workers ask for my opinion to take a one-day risk course. The content was Matrices of Probability and Impact. I gave them assistance for two weeks to teach them the Risk Management knowledge area according to the PMBOK Guide, sixth edition. I provided them with material such as Rita Mulcahy's book and some exercises using the Risky Project software. The result was that my co-workers attended the course and were not satisfied even in 10% due to the poor content.
My work team does not know the direction of projects as a profession. I support them with my knowledge and I try to do team work using the PMBOK.
I have also helped university students to make Project Plans and understanding the direction of projects.
I have several whatsapp groups that I assist by providing templates and helping them to understand them.
Solidarity is the key.
Helping others, gives prestige and more value to your knowledge.
