It is my humble opinion that an MBA dissertation is the ideal definition of a ‘project’. It is something finite that has a defined completion criteria. Furthermore, that completion criteria is constrained by Scope, Time, & Cost… If you add in the often missing 4th quadrant of “Expectation”, then you have a winning combination.
Scope: Production of a specific number of pages of content covering specified topics.
Time: Deadline for completion (next week, next year, etc.)
Cost: Number of actual man hours you will spend working on dissertation (reading & writing), combined with any associated real costs (travel, materials, etc.)
Expectation: A passing score with enough knowledge on the topic to defend your position. Saving Changes...

You mean PM knowledge --- PMP is one out of 50+ certification and is not the same thing as PM
