Has anyone heard the term before? or know how it can be applied to project management?

I believe the concept of Bioteaming can be beneficial if applied correctively, however I doubt we ready to enforce it as an alternative to conventional processes.

The article below explains a bit about what bioteams are and how the concept works.

Yes, I did, but some of the logic behind the concepts seems questionable, especially the group leadership: most animal herds have a single “leader” that is overthrown only by force by another one that becomes the new “leader”. Even one of Ken Thompson’s favourite examples, the ants and bees colonies, have a single queen.

There are some good concepts too, such as empowering the team members and allowing more autonomy that typically practiced by authoritarian project managers – not a new concept by the way, behavioural models of leadership is an extensively studied topic.

My recommendation: read, understand and pick concepts and ideas that might work in your environment – avoid an all-or-nothing approach as this theory still has a while to mature.

Hope it helps,
