Has the current level of change - and near-term projected change in the next few years created the demand for continuous learning?

Yes indeed it did but in all cases, there is always a demand on continuous learning due to so many factors like emerging technologies.

In summary, yes, the pace of change within the business environment has spurred my interest in continuous learning. It has also awakened a reinforcing feedback loop whereby I enjoy the process of discovery and learning.

Sorry bit off -topic though in a different perspective .
What brought these changes ?
Is it not a result of continuous learning or human nature to evolve?

It is the nature of species to evolve over long periods, but people often put out great resistance to change over short periods. I find that once people are comfortable, most don't want to have to adapt to any changes at all. That's a good thing in some ways for PMs, as we need those people who are very comfortable doing the same thing over an over. The PM on the other hand is always on the front lines of change, and the ability to adapt to new challenges is one skill that helps set us apart.

Keith, I agree with you on most of the part.

Though working with young generation and methods we use in software industries ,changes are coming from teams while as a project manager we need to evaluate then and execute.May be it is more related to what I have experienced recently.
