Ashutosh Trivedi Director - Delivery & Operations| AnakyticsFox Softwares Pvt. Ltd. Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India
User Scenario: one of the team is working on SAP and other team is working on SharePoint Online. It is often required to communicate between two teams but most of the times I see that there is a huge gap and data never comes on time or not in proper format. Team meeting is not so easy since both have different reporting managere.

What is the best way to break the ice so that work should not hamper?

Hi Ashutosh,

It is important that you or the project manager conduct a weekly team meeting with both departments involving important stakeholders (including the two managers if required). Discuss the expectations of your data, including the timeline, how it must be presented in proper format (you are looking for work performance information, data that is sliced and diced and not raw data). Alignment of work, departments and your expectations are important. Follow up constantly every week. (A weekly meeting reduces the amount of risk actually in reality) and in the process you will get the information that you want.

Setting up clear expectations, both teams being on same page and constant alignment (with follow up, updates on changes,) are very important.

Nobody is a mind reader, and every department works in silos sometimes. It is your job to be proactive, bring people together and get what you want.
