How to exactly calculate Task/project Percentage Completion? Can anybody show the scientific way to do so? I want to know it for project reporting

My recommendation, is going to PMI“s EVM standard.
I would also recommend EVM

Task/Project Percentage Completion is a function of the percent complete for each scheduled activity based on a cost loaded schedule totaling to the sum of authorized design, construction and support service contracts in the project. EVM is built into the project schedule software and is expressed as percentage complete equating to the ratio of Earned Value/Project Value. The EVM calculation is the sum of the product of completion of individual activities and the cost value of the activities. Your project scheduler or designated project controls person will be in the best position to assist determine the best measure of project percentage completion for reporting progress to the Owner/sponsor.
