What is project's monthly flash report? What are its content further if we need to show recovery in progress what should be included? Saving Changes...
project reporting is stakeholder and context specific. As part of communications management planning you would meet with key stakeholders to understand their information needs and then develop the best means of meeting those which could be a report (push) but could also be an information radiator (pull).
If the focus for a given project is on recovery, then information your stakeholders may want is the progress made against the recovery plan, updated forecasts, and top three issues and risks.
Hi Farjad, I don´t know this specific report, but its name reminds me a very powerful report called "one page report". This is a weekly report in which the PM shows the most important information about the project status and progress. I assume that this monthly flash report is almost the same, but in a monthly basis. I strong recommend to include at least the following information to show recovery in progress:
- Schedule Performance Index
- Cost Performance Index
- Major risks and mitigation plan
- Last achievements
- Planned activities for next period
- Upcoming milestones
Remember to be extremely objective since the audience of a report like this is usually formed by managers and directors.
In our projects, "recovery" relates to recovering costs each month. I guess in this context the PMBOK would call it corrective action since preventative actions have failed. But as Kiron pointed out, progress toward recovery would be the biggest one to report on. Saving Changes...
