Tim PM Project Manager| NHS Yes, United Kingdom
We have nothing here alas for Programme Management, but at a previous place we used a combination of MS Project Server and some very bespoke development of Sharepoint.

There are various Project Portfolio Management software tools out there, but how well many of these are suited for Programme Management is an unknown to me.

Whatever the customer uses - Jira, SmartSheet, Trello, MSP, CA Rally, etc.

I once managed a large portfolio with Jira and Excel. It wasn't ideal, but it got the job done.

Thank you, Bob! I see you are in Brentwood, which means we're close. Bob, I have a BS in Business Administration (finance) and an MBA in Management and Strategy, and have been coordinating and managing projects for over 10 years. Looked best for me to pull it all together, earn my PMP (still studying for the exam) and step up to a Project Manager position. Do you have any advice on how to get into the business, being that I am currently looking for a job in this area? Or, do you know of anyone ion the Greater Nashville area that you might recommend? Thanks so much in advance.

One that hasn't been mentioned yet is Visio. When laying out rough high level processes, information flows, and other things with lots of boxes and lines, it's a lot nicer tool than trying to do it so that it fits and is intelligible on a PowerPoint slide.
