Any tips on negotiating a salary?

I'm hoping to get an offer from a company I interviewed with. Any tips on negotiating my salary?

Many of the given suggestions are valid. In the other hand, only when you know you are the unique professional with specific skills, you´ll have the advantages.

I agree with all ideas, plenty of options for any scenario that could happen on day D...
my contribution :
1. Understand that most employers expect you to negotiate, that's what you are expected to do on their behalf
2. Do your research on the industry forecasts, and adjust your narrative to it
3. If more narratives used make smooth transition from one to another, creative way

I agree with Frank Valdiva, its not always money, definitely it matters, but professional growth in company and beyond after accepting offer, exposure to new domains is also equally important. Don't look for short term gains, All the Best!!!
