Standard SW Defect Terminology

Is there standard terminology for describing the impact of a defect or bug in software testing? I'm looking for something other than Severity 1, 2, 3, etc. Are there any common standards so that we don't reinvent the wheel?

Hi Joe,

The same can be notated as Critical, Medium, Low. These are similar to Severity 1,2,3.

You may want to have a look at ITIL incident management and categorization - it's a good start and standardized.
