You are referring to a phase whereas PMIs processes can span many project phases. Remember that PMBOK process groups are NOT phases. As such, it really depends on your organization's standards and the specific project context.

In addition to charter development and stakeholder identification, I'd expect high level requirements, high level solution approach or options, preliminary risk identification and analysis and other initial discovery to be done.

Based on PMBOK, you need to work on two major areas: Stakeholder identification and project charter. drafting the project charter needs a lot of information you have to collect.

One important thing you need to do at that phase is Identifying Stakeholders.

Request SME's to also to add information about their practical experiences.During Project Initiation in my organization(Product Development) the business case /need for the project is initially defined. The business case, benefits realization plan(including ROI and IRR calculation), initial budget and schedule consisting high level milestones and project team is presented to a steering committee, which approves the Project charter. So as mentioned by other people, we try to identify stakeholder using emotional intelligence connect with them, sell them about need of the product and its benefit and use the interaction to capture their requirement from the project. Project actually starts when Charter is authorized by steering committee which also authorizes resources and fund for the project.

Since you're not sure, I will do my best to try and explain to you:

It is not the length of the answer that determines the value of the answer. Project Initiation is not Rocket Science and many of our fellow colleagues above did weigh-in their input in a descriptive manner so it is unnecessary to keep repeating the same answer again and again but you can certainly emphasize what matters most and what not.

Hope this helps.
