Do organizations need a Chief Project Officer?

I haven't heard of this role in many organisations and as you say it may be required in very large organisations - purely project-based. I'll check your blog. Looks interesting !

For project-oriented (formerly projectized) companies, this role would be crucial. For others, it really depends on the level of importance attributed to the competency - in many cases, this falls within the responsibilities of the COO, CFO or some other existing C-level executive.
